History, continued

In 2004, Haiti celebrated it's 200 years of independence as the first black nation of the world. Yet, in that same year, Reverend Jose Jean-Pierre, a Pastor, father, and community leader, sadly observed the social, economic, and political degeneration of his country. Everywhere there was despair and hopelessness. Among the most vulnerable were women, young people, and children - particularly, over 200,000 at-risk orphans. On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 devastating earthquake killed over 300,000 Haitian nationals. Homeless children were shamefully sleeping in public places, the front of churches, on  sidewalks, and living underneath bridges seeking food from dumpsters like little animals. No one cared for them. No social programs were established. No government programs were aimed to bring relief or to change to their lives and destiny. This horrible situation pushed Reverend Jose Jean-Pierre to take action to do something about this deplorable and intergenerational problem. Reverend Jose Jean-Pierre began gathering a group of leaders and young people to pray and address the pains and suffering and destiny of the abandoned children in the city Capital , and in other cities of Haiti as well. Deeply touched by the problem and social danger faced by these at risk children, Reverend Jose Jean-Pierre’ s parents Mr. Malherbe and his wife, Bernadette  Jean-Pierre, consented to legally donate a portion of their land to build an orphanage for the first group of 300 children. They immediately began a feeding program for malnourished and hungry children in the community-  a rural area located within 10 kilometers of the capital of Haiti,

the second largest city on the northern region of Haiti.
